SSM Industries – OSHA 1910.269 Standard Revision

The forward thinking of Tennessee based SSM Industries Inc. (SSM) has created an opportunity for employers to ensure compliance in the safety plan of their employees. The OSHA 1910.269 Standard Revision has been published and effective July 11, 2014. SSM’s Pro-CFR®12 CAL, fabric offers an increased measure of safety in line with the OSHA 1910.269 Standard. It is the industries’ lightest protective fabric with a high Arc Thermal Protection Value (ATPV). Pro-CFR® 12 CAL is a made in the USA, 100% flame resistant 6.25 osy, cotton knit fabric with a 12 cal/cm2 arc rating.

Important to industry employers is the fact that they must now pay for their employee protection and hazard assessments will be required by January 1, 2015. SSM’s fabric is a single layer product of durable flame resistant cotton. It provides 12 cal protection with the look and feel of a retail garment fabric. Gone are the days of non-FR, as safety and protection are paramount to the success of any company.

SSM has had great success with Pro-CFR® 12 CAL in the industrial utility market. The fabric meets all requirements for the Revised Standard (ie. non-melting, non-ignitable, flame resistant clothing fabric) and targets electric power generation, transmission and distribution employees. Within SSM Industries’ line of Pro-CFR® flame resistant cotton, Pro-CFR® 12 CAL provides a high comfort level, is produced in brilliant color options and has the highest arc rating in the lightest weight flame resistant cotton fabric available in the industry. This single-layer 12 cal rated fabric will help employers ensure a high level of protection for a vast percentage of industry hazards.
